"Should Nintendo Create a Zelda Movie?"

It seems like there are money hungry people everywhere these days, especially in the movie business. And now and then companies get desperate for money so they take something that is very popular at that time be it there product or someone else's. And this includes Video Games.

Now let's see. There have been many games that have been turned into movies, this includes: Super Mario Bros, Tomb Raider, Final Fantasy, Resident Evil and 5 Pokemon movies.

So we've had all those movies. But is it high time that Nintendo produce the goods and make a Zelda movie?

Well that's what this investigation is for I will investigate many factors including which game would suit being a movie, how well it would do and how it should be done.

I personally believe that Zelda1 and 2 wouldn't suit being a movie, they were simple-ish games and really you can't make much out of them. Truth be told, I don't even believe that having a movie based on one of the games would be any good. There would be a problem when the movie makers had to convert a storyline for something that you have control over for most of the time. The storylines in games are done so that there is a situation and you have to sort it out, it just wouldn't work that way in a movie.

Another problem would occur is that if you say for example take OoT and turn it into a movie, all there would be is fighting and more fighting and then adding in the "Storyline" scenes, it just wouldn't work and people would get very bored after the tedious repetitive battles.

Even though I really like Zelda3, I just don't think is enough power in the games storyline to make a movie. Yet again the problem with fighting would occur, do we really want a film where all wee see is a person slashing Moblins and such with his weapons? Okay fair enough Z3's storyline was good, but when it comes down to time, they would have to cut an awful lot of the games storyline out to make the movie short enough to keep people interested in the movie. If it were too long people would just walk out of the cinema.

Now Zelda4 is my favourite game out of the series. I always ask myself, how did they fit such a huge game into such a small cartridge? But again, is the storyline of the game really suitable to be a movie and I'll say it out straight...no! The same tedious problems will occur! But another problem arises with this game...the people who have never played any of the games, would have problems trying to learn what everything's about. That's all I can really say on this game.

Well look I've reached Zelda5, that nice game I really love, OoT! And those of you who have read some of my previous investigations will know that I am not very kind towards this game. But this time I have slightly good-ish to say about the game.

To keep western gamers/movie goers happy the story line wouldn'd have to be as complex as many of the other Zelda games.

But there is one Zelda game that would fit this category and that's Z5, because of it's true simple-ness it would be good to make a movie out of, but there would be a downside, the length of the movie. It would just be too hard for the movie people to make a movie out of the game, it would last about 40 minutes and that just wouldn't do!

And yet again the same problems would occur about the fighting etc.

Now Z6 is an interesting one. The Storyline wasn't as good as it should have been, it was plain and simple get all the masks and stop the moon from crashing down onto Termina. But the time travel concept really intrigues me, if they made a Movie that involves time travel but doesn't have the same storyline to MM then that would get me interested. I know it sounds a but weird that it would interests me, what I mean by it would get me interested is that in time travel problems will occur like if you take a knife from someone's table but then go back in time and leave it, then a totally different future will happen.

But if they were to leave the MM storyline in then my question to them would be "how?"

I have decided to exclude the Oracle series from this investigation.

There you have it, none of the games would be able to be a movie, and it would just be too hard for the Moviemakers to do. Then what should they do? Well I believe that they should start from scratch and write a storyline that would keep everyone interested, not include much sword swinging and remembering the Zelda theme! Though not seeing Princess Zelda being kidnapped would be a nice change, though yes that does count as steering slightly away from the Zelda theme, but hey it's good to change (sometimes). Maybe Link should get kidnapped, no-one would expect that, or would they?

Now here's a tricky part, how well would it do?

I've had to give some thought over this, because it seems that most of the Movies made from Video Games are either Very rubbish movies but got loads of people to watch them or Very rubbish films that didn't pull in the punters to watch it. So does a Zelda movie stand a chance? And well I really don't know to be honest, first off it depends how many people are really interested in or like playing Zelda games, thus affecting the amount of people who would go and watch it. Secondly the storyline would have to be good and from the other video game turn movies haven't had anything close to a good storyline. (Please Note that this does not include the RE movie, because I haven't seen it yet).

Advertising also would affect how the movie would do, obviously the more amount of times they show a trailer for the movie, they will catch the attention of more people.

But it's hard to predict this now they'd need to make the movie to make this investigation accurate.

How should it be done?

Now here's a question, should it be done Live action? Anime? Computer Animated? Normal Disney animation style?

Now I personally would go for the Anime way, it would look so good if it were an anime. They'd be able to capture the feel of a normal Zelda game. It would be great.

Let's put it straight, a live action would just totally be rubbish, they'd lose the Zelda feel. It just wouldn't feel like Zelda!

Now Computer Animated, that's quite hard, would they do it realistic or cel-shaded? As you know we've had OoT, MM and the old Spaceworld demo of ZGC that were realistic looking (mostly old spaceworld) and too be honest I just thought Link looked like a total weirdo in the Spaceworld demo. But if they did it cel-shaded, it would just hurt everyone's eyes after a while. So really I'm stumped on this point.

Now there you have it into should Nintendo make a Zelda movie and from my findings I think that they should consider it, but look deeply into a good storyline. And preferably make it an Anime.
