Health Related Items

Heart
Will replenish one heart in your Life bar. Often dropped by monsters and can be bought from shops.

Heart Container
Increase your Life bar by one. These are secretly hidden around Hyrule. Refer to the Heart Containers guide for more information.

Fairy
Replenish your Life bar. You can find them inhabiting a pond/fountain, or are sometimes dropped by enemies.

Life Potion
Bought from an Old Lady. Drink this to replenish your health. Only one drink per bottle.

2nd Potion
Bought for the same Old Lady who sells Life Potions, or can receive it instead of a Heart Container. Refills your Life bar. Becomes Life Potion after one use.

The Game's Money

Rupee
The game's currency that can be used to buy items and to use arrows.

Blue Rupee
Worth the value of Five Rupees.

Weapons and Equipment

Sword
The first sword. In both Quests, enter the cave that is located in the Starting Screen.

White Sword
The second sword. Need five Heart Containers. In both Quests it is located above the waterfall. From the bridge leading to Level 1, go up, left, up, right three times, and up.

Magical Sword
The third sword. Need 12 Heart Containers. In Quest 1, it's hidden in the upper-right corner of the Graveyard, beneath the middle row's third grave. In Quest 2, four scenes to the right of Quest 1's Level 9. Move the first stone in the arrow (need Power Bracelet).

Magical Shield
A more powerful shield that reflects Zola's fireball and other magic attacks. Can be purchased from shops.

Blue Ring
Cuts enemy damage by half. Can be purchased from a secret shop for 250 Rupees. Check the Shop Guide for more information.

Red Ring
Cuts damage received by enemies by one quarter. Found in Level 9 in both Quests.

Power Bracelet
Use this to move heavy boulders. Found in the Overworld in both Quests. Refer to the Warping Solutions guide for more information.

Important Labyrinth Items

Triforce Piece
A piece of the Triforce of Wisdom. Princess Zelda shattered the Triforce and hid these pieces in the eight different labyrinths hidden throughout Hyrule.

Map
Reveal the Level's layout and what rooms you have not yet visited. One can be found in every Level in both Quests.

Comapss
Reveal the Triforce Piece's location on your Level's Map. One can be found in every Level in the both Quests.

Key
Will unlock any door in any dungeon, no matter where you received it. Often found in dungeons, but can also be purchased from a shop.

Magical Key
Use to open any locked door in a dungeon without needing a regular Key. Found in Level 8 in both Quests.

Other Active Items

Letter
Received from an Old Man hidden in the Overworld (refer to the Potion Shops guide for more information). Give this to a hidden Old Woman you will find so you can purchase Life Potions.

Clock
Stop the monsters in a scene or room. Effect lasts until you move to a different scene or room. This is randomly dropped by monsters.

Food
Use this as bait to lure monsters or to appease their hunger. Can be bought from shops in the Overworld.

Bomb
Blast through walls or enemies. Can be bought from a shop or are often dropped by enemies. Link can only carry eight at a time, though.

Recorder
Use this to quickly warp yourself to dungeons you've already received the Triforce Piece. Or use it to reveal secrets in certain scenes. In Quest 1, you find it in Level 5. In Quest 2, you retrieve it in Level 2.

Bow
Useless unless you have purchased Arrows. On Quest 1, you can find it in Level 1. On Quest 2, you can find it in Level 5.

Arrow
Used with the Bow. Each shot consumes a single Rupee. Only needs to be be purchased once from a store in the Overworld.

Silver Arrow
An arrow upgrade needed for the final fight against the evil Ganon. Found in Level 9 in both Quests.

Boomerang
Use this to kill weak enemies or stun stronger ones. Found in Level 1 in both Quests.

Magical Boomerang
A more powerful version of the boomerang. In Quest 1, it is located in Level 2. In Quest 2, it is hidden in Level 3.

Magical Rod
A wand that releases a wave of magic at your foe (acts similar to the Candle). In Quest 1, you can find it in Level 6. In Quest 2, you receive it in Level 8.

Book of Magic
Find this to make your Magical Rod even stronger than before. In Quest 1, you find it in Level 8. In Quest 2, it is located in Level 4.

Blue Candle
Bought from a store in the Overworld. Creates a temporary flame that can light up a room in a dungeon, hurt enemies, or burn down a bush in the Overworld. Can only be used once per scene.

Red Candle
Same use as the Blue Candle, but you can use it several times in any scene. Receive it in Level 7 in both Quests.

Raft
Use at docks to move across the water to reach an island. In Quest 1, you receive it in Level 3. In Quest 2, you receive it in Level 4.

Stepladder
Use to step over holes and gaps, or even narrow rivers. In Quest 1, you find it in Level 4. In Quest 2, it is hidden in Level 6.
