Figurines

Figurine collecting is probably the biggest and most interesting of the sidequests in The Wind Waker. The figurines allow you to get a closer look at nearly every person and enemy in the game, and present you with interesting and sometimes humorous information. You can get them by bringing pictures taken with the Deluxe Picto Box to master sculptor Carlov, who will make them in a day's time. However, He will only take high-quality pictures. For best results, try to get in their face and most of their body.

Access the Nintendo Gallery

The Nintendo Gallery is the place where you receive and view your figurines. To get to it, climb up the Baba Buds in the Great Deku Tree's area until you reach the place where you got the Deku Leaf, and look for a lone Baba Bud a short distance away. Jump/glide to it and use it to reach an exit to the outside. From the outside, glide to a small island, where you will find a large hatch and a kind of weird-looking guy standing next to it. Use a pear to take control of a seagull and fly up to a crystal switch on the side of the Forest Haven and activate it with your wing to open the hatch. Jump in and you're there.

Get the Deluxe Picto Box

In order to receive figurines, you need the Deluxe Picto Box. The easiest way to get it is to get the normal Picto Box in the first quest, which will cause you to have the deluxe version from the beginning. In the first quest, however, you will need to take certain steps to get it at the earliest possible moment in order to get all of the figurines. First, go to Lenzo with the normal Picto Box the first time you visit Windfall. He will ask you to be his assistant and will send you on three missions to get shots of certain people.

For the first, find the man in the red outfit who will be walking down from the area near Lenzo's shop towards the postbox. Keep your distance until he reaches his destination, or he will stop moving until you move away. When he gets to the postbox, ready your Picto Box and take his picture just as he is putting his letter in, being sure to include the box itself.

For Lenzo's second task, go into the cafe and roll into the wall. When the man in green starts shaking in fear, take his picture.

For the final shot, find the man who enjoys walking around town, and follow him from a distance like you did in the first task. Wait until he stops and looks at the woman in the orange dress, and snap both of them. After showing Lenzo the last shot, exit and reenter his shop, and he will ask you to get him a firefly from the Forest Haven. When you go there for the first time, find one. It will appear as a glowing sphere with a large disk of light beneath it. Capture it in a bottle and give it to Lenzo when you return to Windfall in pursuit of the pirates to receive the Deluxe Picto Box.

Legendary Pictographs

There are some characters in The Wind Waker who you can't get a picture of in the normal way. (i.e.: they only appear in a movie sequence) To get their pictures, and their figurine, go to Lenzo's shop at night after you've beaten both the Earth and Wind Temples. He will offer to sell you one of 7 Legendary Pictographs for 50 Rupees. Which one he's selling depends on the phase of the moon.

Complete Knuckle's Challenge

This is how you get Tingle's brother Knuckle to appear on Tingle Island for a picture. Activate the Tingle Tuner and walk up and down on the beach of Outset Island until you receive a message from Knuckle. He will ask you to find and go to four different places. First, go to the small outdoor bath north of your house. Second, climb up the ladder beneath the lookout tower that goes into the water. Third, stand on one of the rocks on top of the mountain opposite the Forest of Fairies. (I'm not sure which one) Last, drop off the edge of the cliff onto a rock below. If you complete the challenge, you will get a new function for the Tingle Tuner and Knuckle will show up on Tingle Island.
