*Update* Article requires some editing as this game is now impending release in the European region. Though there is no report of the game coming across seas, there is an english language option that will be implimented in the game for those who are interested in importing the game.
Never released outside of Japan, Tinlge RPG was a Nintendo DS game officially named "Tingle's Freshly-Picked Rose-Coloured Rupee Land". The game never made it outside of Japan, however, probably for the very reason that Tingle, the main character, is one of those characters that you love to hate.
However, after the game's release, it's story line and interesting Rupee bartering system managed to earn it a small fan following. So, not everyone believes that this game is a total waste of time. However, there has been no news anywhere of the game traveling outside of Japan.
There is also little reference to the other Zelda series in this game. Tingle is the only Zelda character present. Apart from that, there is no Ganon and many of the monsters that I've seen depicted are not Zelda monsters. Of course, I've not played the game myself.
The Storyline
The storyline goes something like this: Once upon a time, Tingle was a normal person, until he wandered upon a pond and Old Man Rupee contacted him from the heavens. He promised Tingle paradise - in exchange for Rupees. Tingle agrees to this and becomes the strange green, fairy-loving creature we all know, whose life force is completely reliant on Rupees.
The game is comprised entirely of his main homeland with people he can trade with or do favors for (for Rupee rewards), or he can venture out to surrounding islands which are comprised of puzzles that - obviously - offer big Rupee rewards upon completion. Rupees are also received with the completion of Tingle's Maps.
Battling is very different. The player simply taps the stylus on an enemy and depending on the bigger the mob that the player defeats, the bigger the Rupee reward. There is no health system in this game, as obviously, Tingle's life relies on his Rupees in the first place - so, if you take damage, you lose Rupees.
There is so much more to the game, too. This is really just the tip of the iceburg.
The Graphics
If there's anything the game scores on, despite whatever faults it has, is the graphics. All hand drawn. They are also colorful and vivid and very unique to this game's style. I've seen dozens of screenshots from this game, and I would buy it on the graphics alone.
The Music
Well, honestly, I've not heard any music from this game. I've also not seen a site mention the music. So, I don't know if that's a good or a bad thing. No idea.
